Modern LSP dictionaries differ from LGP dictionaries in many ways, one of which being that they include categories of information not found in traditional LGP dictionaryes. The development in the field lf LSP lexicography, which has taken place over the last ten years, has been based on the need of the dictionary user. We shal focus on the encyclopedic notes in bilingual LSP translation dictionaries analysing it as a text. By means of a pilot project in the form of a user survey, we outline som criteria for the design of the encyclopedic note as a parte of the microstructure.
