On War, Lions, Dogs, Birds and a VinyardEller noget om krig, løver, hunde, fugle og en vingård
The article deals with the use of animals in 1 Kgs 20-22 and argues that these texts are not well-suited as historical sources for Israel's history. On the other hand, they can be used to reconstruct the world of ideas, the cosmo-ontology of the Old Testament. Jahweh is connected with lions, while the king Ahab and his queen Jezebel are connected with unclean animals which feed on carrion, birds and dogs. The main theme in 1 Kgs 20-22 is: killing and devouring.
