2/3 of all diseases with fatal outcome are related to either vascular conditions or cancer. Few or no god early diagnostic is available. Ischemia can be detected by the 23Na intra- versus extra-cellular gradient. NMR studies, which distinguish between S=3/2 quadrupolar and non quadrupolar nuclei interactions can be used to monitor the sodium gradient non invasively. This study involves the preliminary investigations and verification, on phantoms and development of a data analysis protocol.
