Unit accentuation in Danish, e.g.:han ostod 'op (he got up) vs han 'stod 'op (he was standing) is described as consisting of a stress loser (stod) and a stress keeper (op). A destinction is made between progressive stress loss, which is discontinous, and regressive stress loss, which is not discontinous. Unit accentuation is an extremely rich way og forming predicates in Danish.
